5 immensely interesting things about me

28/2/2016

(Well, immensely interesting to me because I did all this and it kind of shaped me…)
  1. I was a foley artist and worked in many sound studios in the UK (including Pinewood studios, Shepperton studios and Twickenham studios) and even in New Zealand and in Norway, recreating footsteps and sound effects for films and TV.

  2. I was once rescued by a fireman. (OK, it wasn’t a life-threatening moment but he was gorgeous and I was thrilled).

  3. I had two Hens Night parties (no – I didn’t marry the fireman). The first was an overnight trip from London to Reykjavic, Iceland where me and a few of my girlfriends took a midnight dip in the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. The second took place at the world famous kitsch cabaret club Madame Jojo’s in London’s soho. Both events were marvellous.

  4. I’m a family historian and I’m very good at finding dead people. My 35th Great Grandfather was Rhodri Mawr, King of Wales which means I’m a real princess. 💛

  5. I had a number of ghostly experiences whilst working as a professional actor in Britain’s old theatres (creepy, but oh so fascinating).
Have a lovely weekend!

Let's not stand on ceremony, Sue 💛 I'm just plain old Jennie these days... :) (But imagine how my tiara might have looked way back then?)

Here's a few things about me, Jennie.

1) After 49 years of living in Australia I finally became an Australian citizen last year Feb.

2) I did a bit of volunteering for a while. Meals on wheels for 2 years. And tutored special needs students at the local high school for 8 years.

3) I was learning how to play the guitar a few years ago but the strings were to tough for my fingers so I gave up but to keep my brain functioning I'm now learning to play the piano.

4) four years ago I was virtually on my death bed an amazing (not your average) naturopath brought me back to health. I grab life with both hands now. All the things I would never do before I am now. Kayaking, cycling and flying (in a plane).

5) I disliked where I worked so I quit and flew to Germany when I was 21 and stayed with my aunt and uncle for 6 months. I was going to live there but I hate snow and plus my boyfriend ( who is now my hubby) was waiting for me.

6) After becoming Australian I applied for my passport and grabbing life with both hands hubby and I are travelling the world - bit by bit of course. Last June we visited New York and most of the East Coast of America and cruised the Caribbean on the world's biggest ship. Two months ago we flew to Hawaii and stayed on all three islands. In August we're off to Canada and Alaska.

Now you know a little more about me, Jennie. Hope I didn't bore you. I never find my life very interesting.

I am truly in awe of you. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope to hear more about your piano concertos in the the future, and also want postcards from all over the world. I give your life 5 Stars. 💜 (Make that 10 stars.)

Absolutely loved your latest book. I have read a couple of books lately on the old times of Wales/England/France barbaric lot. Keep up the great writing

Julia - thank you for your kind words about my latest book! Re the barbaric lot - yes, looks like my ancestors were involved doesn't it ;) (But then whose weren't?)

Fab fun facts, Princess Jennie. Gotta love Welsh names, too. Keep happy writing and I'll keep happy reading
cheers Princess Fiona - my 35th grandmother was an ogre :)

Haha Fiona McArthur! You're no ogre though. Disregard all 35th great grandmothers :) (Imagine what my king must have been like? Doesn't bear thinking about really. There were no toilets for a start... Although there would have been midwives, yes?)

Loved your five interesting things. you must miss not being in the thick of the action now but I guess writing all your lovely stories sort of makes up for it. You can write any story you want really and you obviously have a lot of material to draw on.

Hi Delores! You're so right. I'm not personally in the thick of things anymore, but yes - I use all that I've experienced and hand it over to my characters. Especially the bits that went wrong or the bits that are hard to make happen - now I let them deal with it :)
