The heroine of my next book does! So what is The House at the End of the Street, book #5 in the Swallow’s Fall series about, and who is this heroine with this Tree of Life, Hope and Truth? It’s winter in Swallow’s Fall, and Gemma Munroe, our heroine, has been home three years after studying art in Europe. She’s not only running Cuddly Bear Toy Shop, she’s also helping her best friends, twins Jillian and Jess Tillman, plan for their wedding. She’s going to be their maid of honour (and she’s getting to like the feel of that knee-length, silk dupion, bell-skirted dress they’re making for her, when usually she prefers her jeans and a bomber jacket set off with multi-coloured scarves and big hoop earrings). Gem is a blonde, sporty, spirited artist and would-be toy shop owner (she’s running it for the hero, Josh). Gem pretends to be a tough-nut but really, she’s hiding her hurts. She has a big heart, our Gem. She was in The House on Burra Burra Lane as the girl whose talent as a young, natural artist inspired the heroine of Burra Burra Lane, Sammy, to start art classes for the children of Swallow’s Fall. Gem’s painting a Tree of Life, Hope and Truth mural on the wall of the Stock Feeders. Gemma puts her own spin on the concept of The Tree of Life. Painting the mural is also her way of ensuring the history of the people she loves in her home town is not forgotten. I took inspiration for her Tree from many sources, and here are some I loved:

I just did a random google check on my name to see what's coming up, and found this post. As an artist, of course I'm delighted to have inspired a writer. As a writer myself, I'm doubly tickled. Thanks for the mention! I'll put your books on my reading list, and will get you linked into my blog when I get moved and back to posting.

How lovely that you found yourself here Dawn-Marie! Your work was tremendously inspiring. I just wish you lived in Australia so that you could come and create your magic in my study. Now that would be true inspiration at my fingertips :) Love your work. Very best to you. Jennie x Comments are closed.
