It takes music, words, atmosphere and conversation to inspire me. So as I was thinking up ways to talk about my next release, The Turnaround Treasure Shop, it dawned on me that what was important in the book, and in the entire Swallow's Fall series, is the value of home. The value of "belonging". With that in mind, I had a conversation with a number of Australian authors of contemporary and historical fiction and asked if they'd care to let me (and you) know what a house or a home means to a character in one of their books. The response has been thrilling! A house might not be a home, and a home might not be a house, and we'll discover which is what and what is which to whom. We'll cover various characters, from outback heroes and heroines taking your heart on a wild ride, to heroes and heroines involved in banquets, madness and conspiracy, all the way to sparkling, feel good romance. There'll be divided families and maybe some forbidden love, and Lady Godiva will also be making an appearance. I hope you'll find a book outside your usual reading scope, or maybe add a new author to your To Be Read or Want to Read pile. I certainly have. I'm walking in other people's shoes as I read. I'll be starting these posts towards the end of May with one blog a day from each of the marvellous and well-known authors I spoke to. I can't wait to share with you. Roll on May and vive la difference - in houses, homes, characters and books. Jennie Jennie's next release, The Turnaround Treasure Shop, is available for pre-order now on all excellent eRetailer sites. Next post: The glamorous side of rehearsal venues I have known (crypts, toilet blocks, vans - and the Tower of London). To celebrate a release day for a good friend and fellow writer, I asked author of contemporary romance, Lily Malone, to tell us what makes a house a home for a character in her book, Fairway to Heaven. You can read the blog post here.
