I'm almost a quarter of the way in with A Place with Heart and so far it's going as expected and I'm loving writing about Jax's dilemma and the unexpected and rather large issue she's facing at the start of the story. I'm feeling for her already! What a horrid author to put her through so much. 😚 But I do have a bit of a problem with the case Det Snr Sgt Jack Maxwell is working on in that - I don't have a case yet! Not to worry, it's coming together bit by bit. I plot as I write so I'm never sure what's going to happen until I write something that tells me "that's it!". I'll be using some adorable and amusing tales in A Place with Heart that come directly from a few experiences my daughter had with animals. Which reminds me - I need to introduce a goat to the story because way back I ran a poll on my Facebook page Jennie Jones, Author about a name for this goat and the winning name pulled from a random draw was Susie (or I might spell it:Suzy). She's a terror, so she better have a grand entrance. As well as running the cafe in town, Jax is an animal rescue volunteer so there are lots of animals in her life. There's a bull in the story already and he is going to be part of the case Jack is working on (just not sure how or why yet, but I have a few ideas). I was really pleased to hear from so many readers that you were able to laugh or smile at the antics of some of the townspeople, and that you loved how well Luke deals with Rachel's past and helps her get through while also being committed to his role as Senior Sergeant and officer in charge of Mt Maria. This was my aim while writing book #1, to have you empathize without being too emotionally torn, and I'm keeping the same aim for book #2. Jax's dilemma is a hard one for her as it involves her past which has suddenly caught up with her in the most unexpected way and will see her a changed person for the rest of her life. Phew! So thank you to everyone who got in touch with me to let me know how much you loved and enjoyed the first book. It's tremendously encouraging to get such a huge response. And thank you to everyone who has left a review or a star rating on Jennie Jones on Goodreads. You're awesome! Now I'd better get back to book #2. Let's hope I get that case sorted soon.
