Gumnut Press Writers Retreat June 2020
If there are any budding writers out there I’ll be part of a fabulous writers retreat in June this year.
We’ll be down at the splendid and countrified Inn The Tuarts in Busselton in WA and we’ll have the chance to not only nurture our creative voices, but to relax, recharge, and rejuvenate. And to chat! It’s very important to chat with other writers because that’s how we learn new things and begin to branch out.
I’ll be holding two workshops at the writers retreat and the good news is that you – the participants – get to tell me what you want to know about writing a novel before we even get there. So we’ll be covering just about everything that’s pertinent to you and where you’re currently at. There’s a lot of info out there online and elsewhere, but sometimes scrolling through it all to get to the right lesson that speaks to you is extremely difficult and can be frustrating. I know. I’ve been there.
There will also be a separate opportunity for a one-one-one critique and a private discussion with me about the first thirty pages of the manuscript you’re working on, and if you haven’t got that far yet, not a problem. We can delve into storylines and characters and plotting along the lines of your ideas instead. It’s all learning, and we all continue to learn no matter how many books we have published.
Hosted by Perth’s Gumnut Press you’ll also get the opportunity to talk marketing (I won’t be missing this one) with Demelza Carlton, a Perth based USA Today bestselling author who definitely knows a thing or two about marketing books.
Love writing. Love talking about writing. Love learning about writing.

I will be donating half on any remuneration received for one-on-one critiques to WIRES(Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation) and Victoria Wildlife on behalf of my horror of what is happening in our country with the unprecedented bushfires.
